Patagonia is one of the last places on earth where you can't rush.
The wind will stop you. The distance will stop you. The stone will
stop you. And so the work done there is done correctly.
Our leatherworkers are based in southern Chile. They learned the craft from
people who learned it before them. They use vegetable-tanned hides,
waxed thread, and hand tools because those materials outlast
anything that was designed to be cheap.
When we ship a desk mat or wallet to a lawyer in New York or
a founder in San Francisco, we're sending them something that
comes from a place those words — craft, durability, identity —
are not marketing copy. They're the only way things get made.
